I have attempted many times in the past to keep a blog. Every time I was majorly unsuccessful. I think my main problem is I wanted my blog to be a place where I vented all my problems or talk about my everyday mundane tasks, much like a journal, and then have dozens of people comment on it to help boast my ego and make me feel like I was contributing to the world.
Finally at some point I realized that I shouldn’t be writing for the benefit of other people. I should be writing for my own. And so to keep it this way, I have decided to not only to write for myself but also keep it private from prying eyes that might judge. This time around that is exactly what I am doing. And even if I don’t have any followers, it’s ok. I’ve also taken to trying to read other peoples blogs and adding my own thoughts to them. I find that it inspires me.
One blog I have taken quite an interest in is written by Janine Russell. Her blog quotes Ernest Hemingway, “There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed.” Her reasoning to this quote is what really drew me to her blog. She truly pours her heart into her writing. You can really feel her emotions through her words. In a blog addressed to her sister she stated, “I’m openly myself, telling nothing but the pure and honest truth.” It’s through her brutal honesty with herself and her writing that allows me as a reader to really be able to connect with her. In a blog post titled The Power of Anonymity she talks about by remaining anonymus it really frees the writer to be able to say whatever they are truly feeling.
