For those of you who don’t know today is the birthday of Ronald Reagan who would be 102 if he were still living. Over the course of his 93 years he accomplished much more than he could have ever imagined, dipping his hands into radio, television, acting, politics along with being married and having kids all without having to mention his biggest achievement as one of our most memorable presidents of all time. In honor of such an amazing man I have decided to post a few fun facts I had never heard about his life.
- Reagan had the nickname “fat little Dutchman”given to him by his father, which later in his life was later shortened to “Dutch”
- Almost foreshadowing his future career, Reagan was president multiple times for other organizations including Student Body President in College and actor’s guilds
- He was a national broadcaster for the Chicago Cubs
- He liked to play golf with his dear friend & comedian Bob Hope
- A couple months into his presidency there was an assassination attempt on his life by John Hinckley in which he came very close to dying. He became the first president who survived an assassination attempt and was able to continue his term in office. He believe that God spared his life in order to fulfill a greater purpose.
